Our Chapter owns an FAA-approved IFR flight simulator. Membership in the Simulator Elite Flyers Program is $300 and that includes 12 hours of sim time. We don't claim it is more fun than flying your own plane to stay current on your IFR, but it certainly costs a lot less! Original member investors can still use their originally allocated free time on the simulator and now all members may use the simulator for $15/hour after a free orientation session with Dan Mahoney or Jim Janda. If you use the simulator you may also be interested in our newly formed IFR club that meets at 10 am on the third Saturday of each month in the Flight School upstairs in our hanger. See Events page for more info on our IFR Club.
A Note from Dan:
Dan Mahoney would like to update his email list of members who are actively using the Flight Simulator and members who would like to receive updates about the Elite Flight Simulator. Additionally, should a member have any problems with the Elite, please email Dan at firstname.lastname@example.org
Members who were original contributors are encouraged to use their time already earned. You may share your remaining time with another member who has been properly familiarized with the operation of the Elite. For those who have been recently familiarized and use the simulator, remember the cost is $15. per hour and you may drop a check or cash, with a note, into the contribution box. To date, we are relying on the honor system for payments. A note with your payment will allow the treasurer to put that money in the proper accounting column. We are sharing the upstairs classroom with the Flying School, so please be extra careful to be sure the door is locked when you are finished. Thanks for your cooperation.
